'churn' is a collection of work by the chicago-based artist Rachael McHan. Although she is an artist trained in painting and drawing, McHan prefers to work with mixed media and not limit herself to any particular subject or medium. Through Photography, Spatial Arts/Sculpture, Printmaking, and (of course) Drawing and Painting, McHan offers a different look at the world, seen through supernaturally strange glasses. Described as a 'painter of emotion', McHan's work strives to evoke both the positive and negative aspects of the human condition; loneliness, ugliness, beauty, joy, awe, rapture, sadness and loss.
With a foreword by Bill Tucker (chicago musician) and poetry by Carly Seguin (a connecticut-based poet, whom inspired the book title) 'Churn' is a diverse, interesting, and unique celebration of art, words, and emotion.
